Module 4

Building a local, regional, and national context for historical research

The significance of local history primary sources and the information they contain goes beyond what can be identified through analysis of the kind explored in Module 3. This module will introduce learners to the process of moving from the narrow bounds of individual sources to the wider field of social, cultural, economic, and political forces that influence local history and help explain the significance of local history sources. Additionally, learners will learn to assess the range of interpretations and perspectives in current historical scholarship.
